May 2014 Susan played a very small part, see 18 May entry in Sparsholt college RHS Chelsea flower show THE PAPER CHASE garden project, who won GOLD and BEST IN CATEGORY, also see them 27 mins in on the BBC coverage. Well done to Chris Bird and his team!




supporting local horticultural societies

May 2014 Susan grew over 200 vegetable plants to help raise money for Winchester Horticultural Society. "It was a long day's sale, but very productive, its good to help local societies". Over 850 pounds, helps towards keeping the society going.

raising 2,368.29 GBP for NGS charity

July/Aug 2013 by opening thier garden on The National Garden Scheme (NGS), Susan and Patick Summers have raised a grand total of 2,368.29 GBP for charity between Thursday 25 and Wednesday 31 July 2013.

This money goes to the beneficiary charities of the NGS. Read more here.




hot and crispy

July 2013 with preperations underway in the garden its getting quite hot and keeping the plants from dying is a big problem! The grass will have to suffer, but the plants will need constant attention to keep them in tip top condition for the garden opening at the end of the month. The plants suffering the most are the annuals and dahlias, they just dont like like this sort of heat day after day. Whereas the aubergines and basil are loving the heat and are growing well and are a delight to behold, so exciting.




teavolution - the evolution of infusions wins silver-gilt

May 2013 on the last build day of the Chelsea flower show, Susan and the team tweek the plants to perfection and are very proud to have won a RHS silver-gilt medal for Sparsholt college. Susan appearing again on BBC Radio Solent along with Chris Bird, lecturer at Sparsholt College.

March 2013 Susan and Patrick join The National Garden Scheme to celebrate 30 Compton way being 'on the cover' of the 2013 yellow book. Listening to Jane Asher who spoke about Parkinsons really did humble the audience. Do support the NGS this year and visit an open garden near you.

Februray 2013 More enquiries than Susan can shake a stick at, must be due to the all of a sudden hot weather spurt. 30 Compton way is coming along nicely and with luck will be ready to open to the public at end of July 2013.

January 2013 Susan is pleased to announce that her garden will be open in July 2013 via The National Garden Scheme (NGS).

Susan adds " I do hope the wet stuff (rain) stays away so that we are able to have some fun days and raise as much money as possible".

September 2012 One evening whilst gardening in her own garden an idea came. "why not open my garden and raise money for charity".

Susan is pleased to announce that her garden has been accepted by The National Garden Scheme.

Since 1927 the NGS has raised and distributed more than 35 million GBP to support charities, with Macmillan Cancer Care Support being the biggest single donor.
